FAQs

What exactly does Fuse do?

Fuse automates patient insurance benefits checks for you, end-to-end. Just add us to your EHR and we will start verifying benefits for scheduled patients at the CPT code level. We do this by checking payer portals and calling payers to retrieve granular benefits details. We then synthesize the responses and add them back to your EHR as a short note on each patient account, just how you like. We also help automate intake form and insurance card collections, together with patient out of pocket estimates. There's lots more we're building and yet to announce as well!

How do you help address staffing shortages for providers?

By automating the process of checking payer portals, calling payers, recording benefits and calculating patient fees, Fuse can eliminate over 95% of tasks associated with the patient billing cycle. This helps free up billing staff's time to spend on higher-value tasks, therefore helping to address workforce shortages.

How do you make sure your benefits checks are accurate?

We maximize accuracy by checking payer portals and calling payers for CPT-code-level benefit details. While payer portals provide basic information such as OOP max accruals and benefits by Service Type Code, they lack granularity. Calling payers lets us obtain specifics like network status, prior authorization requirements, and visit limits by CPT code. By combining and comparing portal and call results, we ensure the most accurate checks, as the data is detailed and discrepancies indicating payer errors or contradictions can be flagged and escalated for further review.

What is the financial benefit of automating benefits checks?

The exact $ benefit will depend on each practice and patient volume. This said, we see three benefits: First, the admin overhead saved by your team no longer having to do benefits checks, which can amount to 30 min per patient. Second, we typically see up to 20% of denials being caused by incorrect eligibility checks. For example, missing a prior auth requirement, or billing outdated insurance for a patient who recently switched employers. Our checks can prevent these. Finally, faster checks can increase the speed and volume of patient intake and help grow revenue.

Is it secure?

Yes, Fuse is fully HIPAA compliant and has achieved SOC 2 Type II compliance through external auditing. We follow strict data security and privacy protocols to protect sensitive healthcare information. For more details, please visit our security page.
